Dear Lis,
When winter kicks in, my nose starts to run and I wake up every morning with a sore throat.
Jim

Dear Jim,

That’s very common. The heat is on in the house, which dries you out while you’re sleeping. You go outside and the cold makes your nose run. Both of these things are hard on your vocal cords. You need to get more water into your system. Run a humidifier at night to get moisture in the air. You can also buy a small personal steamer for about $30. It looks like this. It’s available at any large drug store or on Amazon.
