I just finished three weeks of getting Rihanna warmed up and ready for her big – and I mean big – tour starting April 16 in Antwerp, Belgium. She’s sounding great. And now it’s your turn. I’ve got two bits of news for you, both about auditions.
If this year is anything like the last nine years, American Idol will be holding auditions this summer for next year’s Season Ten. Once the current show wraps, they will put a list of dates and cities on their website, www.americanidol.com/. Now is the time to prepare yourself and your 30 second a capela audition.
In collaboration once again with the good people at The Songwriting School of Los Angeles, http://www.TheSongWritingSchool.com, I will be holding a one day workshop called “Idol Prep” on Sunday, May 16, 2:00-5:00 PM. Twentyfive people will get a chance to sing their audition song for me, get a critique and then sing it again. Nerve-wracking, yes; a great learning experience, yes. And, of course, an excellent way to warm up for the real auditions. Here is a link to a full description of the class. http://tinyurl.com/y4a4y7k
For those of you who aren’t ready to audition but want to learn by watching, there are special auditor prices both in-person and online. Performers pay $75; auditors pay $25. In addition the School is giving a healthy discount on it’s excellent songwriting class, The Roots, for those who register. Call them at 818.848.7664 or go online to register
