Day 3:
Category: Apps for Guitarists

This week, “Guitar Guy” Tim is giving Live2Play Network readers his picks for the 10 Best Android apps for musicians. If you’re just joining the series, you may want to start at the beginning by clicking here.

I’m back again with more awesome Android apps. For the next few day’s we’ll be looking at apps that were designed for guitarists.

gStrings (Free basic version, $3.00 full version) – I have been using gStrings as my guitar tuner since 2009 when I got my first Android phone, a MyTouch 3g. Although several other tuner apps have come and gone, I have found gStrings to be the most reliable.

The free version provides a great tuner. The full version offers alternate tunings, a pitch pipe, and more settings for catering the app to your phone. Since I primarily use the app for tuning, I’ve never needed the full version although I purchased it a few years ago.

One quick warning, do not tell Google Now (Google’s answer to Siri) to “Open gStrings”. I found this out the hard way. Fortunately, my wife was laughing too hard at my mistake to get mad at me for my search results…

“Guitar Guy” Tim happens to be Live2PlayNetwork’s resident Google fanboy, and he loves to hassle all of the IOS users. This article was typed on a Chromebook in Google Drive, his phone is a Nexus 4, and he’s dying to replace his Kindle Fire with a Nexus 7.2.
