At the risk of sounding flippant, it’s beginning to look like we need to start a new featured, called “The Pop/Rock Obit Of The week.” The frequency of which the stars of the ’60s, ’70s’ and ’80s have been passing has become so great, that not even the Billboard Music Awards can keep up. Since just the beginning of this year, Jimmy Castor, Johnny Otis, Etta James, Davy Jones, Earl Scruggs, Levon Helm, Whitney Houston, Donald “Duck” Dunn, and now, Robin Gibb, have all joined the list of dearly departed. In addition, are dozens of sidemen, and promoters and we certainly can’t forget two guys who brought the music right to our homes, Dick Clark and Don Cornelius. So, who’s dead and who’s not?
