For Robert, music and sound has been a life-long obsession. During the 1960s, if he wasn’t in his basement soldering together a make shift sound system, he was bumming a ride to get his gear to local sock hop, or hanging around the local radio station. Over the next two decades, his career in broadcasting took priority over mobile sound, but by the late ’80s he had not only built up his own successful Mobile sound/DJ company, he had also written his first book for others looking to do the same. In 1990, he became the founding publsiher of Mobile Beat: The DJ Magazine, and shortly thereafter launched started Singer&Musician Magazine (the print predecessor of Live2Play). He was also among the very first to launch a live web-radio station to promote unsigned artists, and to offer a free version of Singer&Musician online in a PDF format. Along with being a broadcaster, publisher and Internet pioneer, he’s also a sax player, writer, gear reviewer and one of the regulars behind the board at his local church.
