There is a bit of sadness with the next entry, Big Red, as I was in the midst of writing these entries when word of Alvin Lee’s passing became public. The guitarist, who is perhaps best known for being a integral part of the Woodstock era band Ten Years After, has an understated influence in rock. This writer also remembers his appearance in a pre-reality TV series (late 70’s?) titled “Make Me Laugh” (or something like that) where he displayed charm and good natured humility.
Gibson, a few years back, honored the guitarist by issuing a recreation of his ES-335…stickers and all.
Alvin Lee and Big Red…I’m Going Home.
