Gov’t entity and agencies everywhere are scratching and clawing to come up with revenue as tax bases for things long depended on (like property tax revenues as real estate values crash). And in Cleveland–home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame–one move to “enhance the collection of existing revenue sources is hitting music venues very hard as the city seeks to collect back “admission taxes”. In a time when the clubs that are still open are trying just to stay alive some have been hit with tax bills in the $400,000 range for the 8% the city is supposed to get for each ticket sold to any performance.
