Second Annual She Rocks Awards at Winter NAMM 2014

I had no idea what to expect when I walked into the Anaheim Marriott for the She Rocks Awards on that Friday morning during the 2014 NAMM show. I mean, this was only the second time The Women’s International Music Network (the WiMN) put together this event and I was walking into the ballroom as a volunteer photographer for the first time to help them document the women being honored.   I have to admit my expectations were not that high but I was pleasantly surprised. WiMN founder and She Rocks Awards producer Laura B. Whitmore successfully brought together...

Highlights from Bruce Springsteen SXSW Keynote

Rock icon Bruce Springsteen just wrapped up his SXSW Keynote and I thought that some of his quotes were so good that I must share! Enjoy! —Linda   ON HIS INSPIRATIONS:   “On Motown – I learned how to write, to play, what to leave in, what to leave out, how to lead a band. “   Springsteen plays an acoustic verse from The Animals’ ‘We Gotta Get Out Of This Place,’ says it’s every song he’s ever written.”Listen up youngsters, this is how successful theft is accomplished.”   “Why do we still talk about Woody Guthrie? Never a had a hit, or sold out an arena. He’s THE ghost in the machine. “     ON BOB DYLAN:   “Bob (Dylan) is the father of my musical country, now and forever, and I thank him.”   “Dylan gaves us the words to understand our hearts. He didn’t treat you like a child.”   “He can sing verse after verse and never bore you. “   “Dylan wrote about everything that mattered at once” ~ Springsteen #SXSW     ON COUNTRY MUSIC:   At first country just sounded cranky to me..then my ears became accustomed to its beautiful simplicity, darkness & death”   “Hank Williams was the grim recognition of the chips laid down against you.”   “Country is the truth coming out of your sweat. It asked ‘Why...

IMAGE: Rude Tiger performing their winning set at the 100 Club with Carlsbro amps Press Release  The Carlsbro sponsored Global Battle of the Bands UK Final competition, at the world famous 100 Club in London’s West End, saw Birmingham finalists Rude Tiger take the national title. Rude Tiger will join Scottish Final winners Citagazi in representing the UK in the GBOB World Final in Bucharest, Romania in May next year.   Unashamedly a full tilt, high energy, stadium-esque rock band, Rude Tiger actually hail from Devon, despite winning the Birmingham regional heat. The three-piece – brothers Jas and Dan Morris, guitar / lead vocals and bass / vocals respectively, and drummer D Collings – formed four years ago. Jas Morris expressed the band’s feelings on the night: ”We want to say a massive thank you to all the good people of GBOB for producing such an incredible global competition. We have had a great time, met some amazing people and can’t wait for the final in Romania. The scale of this competition is quite staggering and the quality of the bands competing, off the scale. We’re going to give it everything we have in May and hopefully do England proud. Thanks again GBOB – YOU ROCK.”   2011 has been the year that things have really kick off for Rude Tiger with the GBOB Final win topping it off....
