Top 10 Android Apps for Musicians
The following blog does not reflect the opinions of Live2PlayNetwork’s management (primarily because they’re all Apple fanboys)
Android. It is now the most commonly used mobile OS, and is far superior to the competition in all but a few areas. One of the biggest setbacks to Android is the lack of apps for mobile musicians. IOS on the other hand has a plethora of options by companies like IK Multimedia (Amplitube, VocaLive, SampleTank, and like 10 others), Peavey (AmpKit), Line6 (Mobile POD), and Apple (Garageband mobile). Until recently, Android had pretty much nothing.
The reason for Android’s lack of applications has primarily been a consequence of hardware companies building underpowered low quality devices, much like the cheap PC’s of the 90’s that cause Microsoft so many headaches. Up until a year ago, it was hard for developers to know what the “standard” for Android was, but with the success of Google-proper devices like the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10, as well as similar quality devices from Samsung and HTC, developers now have a baseline to design from. Consequently, great mobile-musician apps have started to appear in the Play Store, and more are surely to come.
Over the next 10 days, I will be releasing a daily review of my favorite music apps for Android, so stay tuned and prepare for some Android-awesomness!
