As with Eric Clapton’s Blackie, Neil Young’s Old Black has an equally unimaginative moniker. One might presume that this was due to the artist’s unwillingness to name inanimate objects, but Young does name his guitars, including Hank, a Martin D-28 once owned by Hank Williams. Old Black started life as a gold top Les Paul. The guitar was refinished black and has gone through many modifications through the years.
